TOP HIGHLIGHTS FROM
OUR CHARITIES
Beating the bar for the most cost-effective projects
Global Health and Development
-
Suvita (2019 cohort) is estimated to be on a similar level of cost-effectiveness to GiveWell's top charities (GiveWell, Founders Pledge)
-
Fortify Health (launched 2017) is estimated by to be 11x* (GiveWell)more effective than cash transfers
-
Family Empowerment Media (2020 cohort) is estimated to be ~22x* (Founders Pledge) or even up to ~60x* (Rethink Priorities) more effective than cash transfer
*Research organizations like GiveWell assess the cost-effectiveness of global health and poverty programs by comparing their impact to direct cash transfers, which serve as a benchmark. This comparison helps to determine whether a charity creates more impact per dollar than simply giving cash directly to the world's poorest—an intervention with well-documented benefits. For more information on how research organizations implement this comparison, check out our FAQs.
Animal Welfare
For less than $1 USD:
-
Fish Welfare Initiative (2019 cohort) can help 1 fish
-
Shrimp Welfare Project (2021 cohort) can improve the welfare of 1,500 shrimp
Reaching millions
Fortify Health reaches 6 million beneficiaries per month, who are now consuming fortified wheat flour through the organization's programmes. Fortify Health has secured over 120 miller partnerships and is continuing to scale its work with industry and government.
Family Empowerment Media has reached 20 million people in Nigeria with radio messaging. Their pilot correlated with a 75% increase in contraceptive uptake in the region, resulting in potentially 250,000 new users and an estimated 200 fewer maternal deaths.
Fish Welfare Initiative has helped 2.7 million fish already.
Shrimp Welfare Project will potentially affect over 2.7 billion in expectation a year based on signed Memorandums of Understanding.
Making progress in policy
The Lead Exposure Elimination Project (2020 cohort) convinced the government of Malawi to change and enforce a policy on lead paint which could decrease lead poisoning in ~215,000 children. They have received commitments of regulation implementation in 5 further countries and are running lead paint elimination programs in 14.

The Centre for Alcohol Policy Solutions (2021 cohort) helped achieve agreement with the Government of Sri Lanka and UNDP to develop the Investment Case for alcohol taxation and other alcohol policy best buys.
Animal Policy International (2023/1 cohort) released strong polling results before the general election, showing that over 80% of New Zealanders say imports should respect New Zealand animal welfare standards. In a significant development, the Green Party has also included API’s ask in their election manifesto.

Paving new paths

We've created multiple meta charities that are focused on helping talented individuals advance their careers in the most impactful directions (Training for Good - 2021 cohort, High Impact Professionals - 2021 cohort), helping animal organizations find better talent and the best programs they should run (Animal Advocacy Careers - 2019 cohort, Animal Ask - 2020 cohort), helping impact-focused communities find new cause areas to work on (CEARCH - 2022 cohort), and helping donors find the most impactful interventions focused on climate change (Giving Green).
We’re pioneering evidence-based and impact-focused mental health interventions by launching organizations like Happier Lives Institute (2019 cohort - key definers and proponents of the now-famous WELLBYs - a new intervention evaluation system focused on subjective well-being), Canopie (an app focused on preventing perinatal mood disorders), Vida Plena (2022 cohort - self-help groups in Latin America), and Kaya Guides (2022 cohort - self-help programs in India).
